More details surrounding the soon-to-be launched 2021 Geely Binyue Pro facelift have surfaced. This time around, Geely has confirmed that the new SUV will get launch control, an additional ‘Track’ driving mode, and an electronically-adjustable exhaust system.
Yes, this spunky-looking B-segment SUV gets features usually reserved for upper-rung SUVs. The Binyue is Geely’s second model after the Xingyue to get launch control.

To activate launch control in the new Binyue, drivers need to switch to Sport mode, turn off air-conditioning, turn off stability control, disengage the electric parking brake (EPB), keep one foot on the brake pedal, another foot on the throttle, and let the revs build up to 3,800 rpm.
Further adding to its sporty nature is its electronically-adjustable exhaust valves that is tied to the Sport driving mode. According to Geely, the exhaust valves open and close intelligently based on the driving style.
Geely did not elaborate much on the new Track mode in the Binyue, only stating that it provides drivers with the “exhilarating feeling of driving on track”.
Powertrain options remain unchanged from before. The new Binyue gets the choice of two turbocharged mills, the first being a 1.4-litre unit that churns out 141 PS and 235 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The second powertrain option is a more familiar turbocharged 1.5-litre unit that does 177 PS and 255 Nm, hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Pro variant gets this engine exclusively.
Chinese buyers can view the new 2021 Geely Binyue Pro facelift in showrooms starting August.
Editor's comments:
As exciting as it may sound for owners of the Proton X50, don't hold your breath for the addition of these features.
Recall that Proton removed features like the paddle shifters from the Proton X50, citing additional development work required, on top of bumping up costs.
Thus, it is very unlikely for these features to be carried over to the Tanjung Malim-assembled Proton X50.
