AirAsia Ride launched in Malaysia with Lady Driver option for ladies only

After a few teases, AirAsia has finally launched its new e-hailing business in Kuala Lumpur. AirAsia Ride allows potential passengers the option to choose their preferred drivers. There is also an option where female passengers can pick a Lady Driver to feel safer during their rides.

Like its competitors, AirAsia Ride offers a range of ride choices for passengers to pick. There is Compact, Taxi, 6-Seater, Premium, Premium MPV, or passengers can just pick Any Ride and the app will assign you any available ride.

There is also the Allstar ride option where cars are driven by AirAsia pilots and cabin crew.

But unlike its competitors, it is the only e-hailing service where users are allowed to select their preferred driver from a recommended list. This includes the Lady Driver option especially for female passengers.

The e-hailing service also prides itself as a driver-centric business. Drivers are allowed to reject jobs without getting penalised for doing so.

This might sound like a disadvantage to passengers, but the service has been programmed to seamlessly reassign the job to the next available driver so customers would not need to book another ride.

AirAsia also ensures its users that various encouragement models have been put in place where drivers will gain more rewards and benefits for completing more jobs.

The new e-hailing service was also set up to allow users who have purchased a flight ticket to book their rides to the airport in advance. Users can even book a ride in advance after they arrive at their destinations for a seamless journey.

The airlines also announced that they will be integrating the e-hailing service into the full AirAsia membership. Soon, users can use their AirAsia Big Points to exchange for a free car ride.

According to AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the company is working to expand the e-hailing service to more states in Malaysia by the end of this year as well as to the overseas market.

AirAsia is currently looking at countries like Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore, while Thailand is already set as the next country they will launch the e-hailing service.

Currently, AirAsia Ride has about 1,500 registered fully vaccinated drivers. The service estimates that 5,000 more will come on board in the next six months.

AirAsia Ride service is now part of the airline’s AirAsia Super App so there is no need to install another app. While there is another app available for download known as AirAsia Ride, opening the app will only redirect you to the Super App.
