The all-new 2022 Lexus NX will be launched in Malaysia real soon. The new compact executive SUV from Lexus has already found its way to markets in this region, including Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.
So, what’s new with the 2022 Lexus NX?
Now in its second iteration, the all-new 2022 Lexus NX has been developed from the ground up, sharing its TNGA-K platform with the Toyota Harrier and Toyota RAV4.
Although the second-generation Lexus NX is an all-new model, it is still instantly recognizable as an NX, thanks to its familiar front fascia and side profile.
Deviating from the previous generation model is the new full-width LED tail lights. The Lexus logo on the tailgate is no more, replaced with the Lexus wording.
You bet. Lexus has revamped the cabin of the second-generation NX. Out goes the dated-looking dashboard of the predecessor model, now replaced with a much sleeker-looking dashboard with a large touchscreen infotainment display.
Beneath the widescreen infotainment display are the NX’s climate control, thankfully still with physical knobs. That said, the climate control blower and seat ventilation settings have moved into the touchscreen. Ditto to the fan speed and air circulation controls.
Globally, the Lexus NX is offered no less than four different powertrains, all derived from Toyota’s Dynamic Force range of engines. Powertrains include:
Closer to Malaysia, Singapore has already launched the all-new Lexus NX. Our neighbours down south get the NX with the 2.5-litre hybrid (HEV), 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and 2.4-litre turbo.
As for Thailand, they get the NX with the 2.5-litre hybrid and 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid. The regular petrol models are not sold there.
Meanwhile over at the Philippines, the Lexus NX is offered with the 2.5-litre hybrid and 2.4-litre turbo models.
For Malaysia, we can expect both the turbocharged 2.4-litre and naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre variants to be offered here. Taking a look at earlier Lexus models, we reckon that the hybrid variants could be offered on special order basis too.
How much will it cost?
As for pricing, it remains to be seen how much will the all-new 2022 Lexus NX be priced at.
At the moment, the outgoing Lexus NX is priced between RM 306,117 to RM 339,018. With the newer and bigger capacity 2.4- and 2.5-litre engines, prices for the all-new 2022 Lexus NX in Malaysia will certainly shoot up, as our import and excise tax structure is based on engine capacity.
What rivals are there?
When the all-new 2022 Lexus NX goes on sale in Malaysia, it competes against fellow compact executive SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Volvo XC40.
