One day after Perodua opened bookings for the D27A all-new 2022 Perodua Alza, Toyota has followed suit with the equally-new 2022 Toyota Veloz, the Alza’s sister model. Estimated price for the 2022 Toyota Veloz is RM 95k, with SST.
Bookings made this month for the 2022 Toyota Veloz are entitled to SST exemptions, as the model is now locally-assembled (CKD), but UMW Toyota Motor chose to include SST anyway, presumably to deter non-serious buyers from clogging up the order bank. SST exempted prices, once available, will be shared to buyers who have placed a booking.
Mirroring a similar arrangement like the Perodua Aruz and Toyota Rush, the new Toyota Veloz is contract manufactured by Perodua at its Rawang plant. The Veloz for Malaysia effectively replaces the long-serving Toyota Avanza.
Whereas the 2022 Perodua Alza is available across 3 variants, the Veloz is only available as a single variant.
Power is derived from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 106 PS and 137 Nm, mated to a Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT).
Unlike the previous generation model’s rear-wheel drive layout, the new one is front-wheel drive, owing to its DNGA-B architecture.
Inside, the 2022 Toyota Veloz is the first Toyota model in Malaysia to offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via its 9-inch infotainment display. It is also the first sub-RM100 k Toyota model to offer Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) as part of its Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite.
Other niceties of the 2022 Toyota Veloz include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), electric parking brake (EPB) with Automatic Brake Hold (ABH), 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and Qi wireless charging pad.
Colour options for the 2022 Toyota Veloz include Blue Metallic with black roof, Silver Metallic with black roof, Red Metallic, Metallic Bluish Black, and White.
UMW Toyota Motor is backing the 2022 Toyota Veloz with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
