At long last, the much-anticipated sixth-generation, all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck is set to make its debut in Malaysia, with Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) today announcing the upcoming launch and start of order taking for the new model.
The all-new 2024 Triton, will be available in five variants including for the first time a single-cab variant, offers new styling, upgraded performance and enhanced safety. Prices of 2024 Triton is estimated to start at RM 102,000 for the new Triton single-cab and go up to RM 170,000 for the range topping Triton Athlete.
Shinya Ikeda, CEO of MMM, highlighted the Triton's heritage stating, “Mitsubishi Motors has produced approximately 5.6 million pick-up trucks spanning five generations over 45 years since its first launch in 1978. With a record of sales in 150 countries, the pick-up truck is a global strategic vehicle for Mitsubishi Motors. Now in its sixth generation, the all-new Triton is fully redesigned from the exterior and interior to the chassis, ladder frame, and engine.”
The new Triton features the bold "Beast Mode" design, blending rugged exterior styling with a sporty, functional interior. It also offers more powerful engines, enhanced safety features, and a newly developed mega-frame chassis for increased durability and improved crash protection.
Under the hood, the new upgraded 2.4-litre two-stage four-cylinder turbodiesel engine (in the Triton Athlete variant) delivers 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque.
The Triton single-cab and other double-cab variants feature the same 2.4-litre turbodiesel 4-cylinder engine carried over from the previous generation, producing 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. Engines are mated to either a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission depending on the variant.
Mitsubishi has also enhanced the Triton’s suspension system for improved ride comfort and steering stability, alongside its advanced Super Select 4WD-II system offers seven driving modes.The 2024 Triton is also equipped with Active Yaw Control (taken from the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models) for enhanced handling.
The 2024 Triton also receives a full suite of advanced driver aids (ADAS) depending on variant, which includes:
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Forward collision mitigation (FCM)
- Blind spot warning (BSW)
- Lane change assist (LCA)
- Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)
Inside, the SUV-inspired cabin features greater comfort and features such as a wireless charging dock, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
As part of the “Drive Your Ambition Brand Festival”, Mitsubishi is offering an exclusive 60-litre folding storage box worth RM 450 to the first 500 customers who book the new Triton online. The festival was introduced last month during the launch of the 2024 Mitsubishi XPander MPV. Mitsubishi encourages customers to visit authorized showrooms for special bonuses and showroom events.
