The all-new Nissan X-Trail has been launched in China today at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show.

Looking much bolder than the current version we have in Malaysia, the new X-Trail features a two-tier headlight design and an angular V-Motion front grille.

From the rear, the design looks similar to the current Nissan X-Trail in Malaysia, albeit more angular and adorned with more badges.

The model on display at the Shanghai Auto Show also features a large panoramic sunroof that gives the cabin an airier feel.

The “300” in the VC turbo 300 engine name denotes the 300 Nm of maximum torque it is able to produce. Maximum power output, on the other hand, is rated at 204 PS.

The highlight of the new engine is the “Variable Compression” thanks to a special con-rod mechanism and a VCR (Variable Compression Ratio) actuator.

Paired to the three-cylinder turbocharged engine is a CVT with 8 virtual speeds.

A 4x4-i badge can also be found on the tailgate, denoting an all-wheel-drive drivetrain.

Nissan claims a fuel consumption of 5.8-litre/100km for the VC turbo Nissan X-Trail.

It remains to be seen what engine and variants we will get when the new Nissan X-Trail reaches Malaysia.
