Almost all Perodua cars sold out for 2020, sales target of 210,000 units achievable

2020 has been a roller coaster ride for car sales with the biggest dip taking place in April. Even Perodua, the manufacturer of ubiquitous econoboxes took a plunge with only 57 units sold back then.

However, with the SST exemption in place, a spike in demand was observed. The highest number of sales by Perodua was recorded in October with 26,852 cars registered.

The second highest sales figure was recorded in September with 25,035 units sold. It was the highest ever recorded sales in 26 years but was soon exceeded by the following month. Almost 200,000 cars have been sold by Perodua in 2020.

Despite the spike in demand, the supply from Perodua remains tight.

Working at 98% production capacity, a priority for Perodua right now is to ensure customers can get their car before the year end.

To date, Perodua has sold almost 200,000 cars in 2020, well on its way to meet the target of 210,000 cars.

Sources close to the matter at hand say almost all year-2020 cars have been sold out since early December.

In efforts to improve the economy this year, Perodua has spent RM600 million on local parts in October 2020.

It has been a tough year for all of us, but Perodua has managed to soldier through.
