Sambal with rice and wasabi with sushi are some of the other iconic spicy duos we can name, besides the 2022 Honda Civic Type R and the Suzuka Circuit, of course.
Incidentally that's what set the internet on fire today, as the latest to wear the coveted red R badge has been spotted piling on the miles at the racetrack recently.
Due to debut in 2022, the upcoming Type R was seen testing alongside the outgoing FK8 Civic Type R. Side-by-side the pair look like the stereotypical Hollywood evil-twin dynamic: one is all about fire and fury, while the other is the everyday hero in a suit.

Sure, that could also be the trick camouflage playing its part but no prizes for guessing which is which.

But still waters run deep, and buyers are going to need a bigger float if the sporty tyres, red brake calipers, triple exit exhausts, and massive rear wing are any indication of things to come.
Though Honda remains tight-lipped about whats under the hood, expect more firepower, and maybe something a little different too โโ– there's been some reports suggesting the next Type R could be a hybrid.

As it stands, the outgoing FK8 Civic Type R has a 2.0-litre VTEC turbo engine (K20C) that makes 310 PS and 400 Nm, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Ask anyone who's driven it and they'll tell you it's a straight-up weapon of lap-record destruction, so an improved version of this is something to be excited about.

Again, the Type R is still a ways away, but Honda Malaysia has opened bookings for the 2022 Honda Civic (FE), just a week after the launch of the Honda City Hatchback.
