It seems that Kia's Malaysian operations are set to go under new ownership as early as April, as hinted by an investment report.
This is the Kia Seltos, recently launched with prices starting from RM 115k
AmInvestment Bank's report from earlier today hints that Bermaz Auto are potentially the ones taking over Kia's operations here, stating the company's "potential win of Kia's manufacturing, assembly and distribution rights, possibly by April 2021".
Kia's Malaysian operations have been embroiled in an ownership limbo since last year, when we first learnt that Naza Group was keen on letting go of the South Korean marque.
Since then, Bermaz Auto has emerged as the frontrunner to take over the brand here. Besides them, it was reported that Sime Darby Bhd. and Berjaya Group are also in line to take over the brand.
Time will tell how this will shape up. Beyond AmInvestment Bank's report, Bermaz Auto has yet to comment on the matter.
