Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) will be previewing the all-electric (EV) Volkswagen ID.4 at the VW Fest 2022, happening at the historic Sentul Depot in Kuala Lumpur on 15- and 16-October.

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a Tiguan-sized EV that is set to rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in Malaysia. Globally, there are two battery options for the ID.4 - 52 kWh and 77 kWh. We’re expecting VPCM to give the 52-kWh variant a miss and introduce the 77-kWh version.

The 77-kWh variant achieves a WLTP range of up to 522 km and has a rear-mounted electric motor that pushes out 204 PS/310 Nm. As for charging, the ID.4 accepts up to 11 kW AC charging and 125 kW DC fast charging.

In the UK, the VW ID.4 is priced about the same as an Arteon. With import and excise duties are temporarily waived for CBU battery EV models, the ID.4’s price is expected to be in the RM 200,000 to 250,000 region. But we’ll have to wait for its official launch to confirm.

At the VW Fest 2022, visitors can enjoy a range of live performances and test drive Volkswagen’s range of models. There’s also Volkswagen Driving Academy, where juniors can earn their first driver’s license.
