Proton Pakistan has announced that they can resume operations soon, following the announcement by the Malaysian government that Movement Control Order (MCO) restrictions for the industrial sector has been eased. 

Al-Haj Automotive, Proton’s distributor in Pakistan issued a statement last week on their Facebook page, stating that they are working with their Malaysian counterpart to arrange for an earliest possible shipment of cars to Pakistan.

This will, in turn, resolve Proton Pakistan’s outstanding CBU orders as well as commencing CKD operations in the country.

Back in July, Proton Pakistan said that while they're "equipped to start local assembly of Proton vehicles", a "hold-up in supplies of CKDs" have led them to anticipate a further delay of two months before they can start local assembly.

Thus far, over USD 30 million (~RM 126 million) has been invested in the Karachi facility, with an expected production capacity of 25,000 units per annum.

At the moment, only two Proton models are offered in Pakistan – the Proton Saga and the Proton X70.
