The all-new LDV eT60 will be Australia’s first all-electric pick-up truck. Australia will receive the product starting from November 2022.

If the LDV T60 looks familiar, that's because it is also offered here, albeit as the Maxus T60. LDV has sold 22,092 units since it was launched in Australia.

The LDV eT60 brings the highly specified, value-focused 4X4 into the electric vehicle (EV) space.

While LDV confirmed that the eT60 will arrive in Australia later this year, Japanese carmakers such as Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi are considering a hybrid system for their pick-up trucks and it is only a matter of time when these brands catches on in the EV space for their 4X4s.

According to GoAutoNews, LDV Australia stated that the global automotive market is undergoing its most significant revolution in decades. With their eT60 EV pick-up truck arriving in November, it marks a significant moment in the brand’s history in Australia and of course being the market’s first all-electric pick-up truck. 

Both Maxus and LDV are under the same parent company, SAIC Motor, who has an extensive experience in manufacturing EVs in China. Now, it is setting its goal for commercial EVs in Australia.

The LDV eT60 is powered by an 88.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 330 km of range following the WLTP standard. Utilising the eT60’s DC fast-charging, it will take approximately 45 minutes from 20% to 80%. However, charging times will increase significantly, approximately 9 hours, from 5% to 100% using an 11 kW charger.

LDV Australia confirmed the initial eT60 will be a dual-cab 4x2 variant, with pricing and further specifications to be revealed during the launch.

For Malaysians, currently on sale is the Maxus T60. The T60 is powered by a 2.8-litre, 16-valve, DOHC VGT turbodiesel engine, sending power to all-four wheels via a 6-speed Punch automatic. It was given a refresh in July 2022 and the biggest improvement was its performance.

Given that the LDV eT60 is based on the Maxus T60, will it ever make an appearance in Malaysia? It remains to be seen but do follow us for more updates.
