Bodo Chronus

This tiny Perodua Axia size/ Proton Iriz lookalike car is an electric vehicle  (EV) made by a company from China named Bodo. It has a top speed of 69 km/h and it is trying to establish itself in Europe.

Jokes aside, Bodo is read in Chinese as “bao dao” that directly translates into “precious island”. The full name of the company is Wuxi Bodo Electric Vehicle Inc. So, no, the company is not trying to name themselves “bodoh” in an effort to humour us.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1685525140735-0'); });

Like the previously viral Mini lookalike, Mine M1, the Bodo Chronus is not classified as a car in China but a four-wheeled electric scooter. So, Chinese users are not required to get a registration number plate to drive it on the road.

The Bodo Chronus is a larger EV with 5 doors, it is powered by a 7.5 kw battery that produces 10 PS and has a 400 km range. It has a capacity to fit 4 adults and a small boot space for groceries.

But don’t look down on the Chronus. Bodo is currently working its way around countries like Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, and Malta, not bad for a little car with an unfortunate name.

This is the perfect case of why car companies are required to change a car name according to the country language. Remember the time when Chevrolet named their car the Super Nova, but in South America, Super Nova meant super slow? Not a good choice of names for a car.

There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
