21 years ago, BMW M teased the world with a touring version of the E46 BMW M3 called the BMW M3 Concept. Although the concept never made it to production, true fans remember the model like it is their birthday. Now, BMW M division is giving the M3 Touring another shot with the G81 BMW M3 Touring and this is the teaser leading up to the launch.
Although the concept car received rave attention when it was put on display, the reason the car never made it to production was due to technical complexity.

Hans Rahn, the man responsible for prototype construction and rapid prototyping, explained that the jump between creating the M3 Coupe to the M3 Touring was too huge as engineers will have to change many things right down to the chassis construction.
Now, 20 years later, the M Division decided to give the M3 Touring yet another try due to continuous fascination.

The teaser came straight from BMW M on YouTube, it appears to be the first of a series of videos leading up to the launch of the production series G81 2023 BMW M3 Touring. From the looks of it, the model is set for a launch this year.
However, we don’t have to wait until then to get an idea of what the rear-end of the car will look like. The teaser brought us into a secured area where the BMW engineers pulled off the covers to show us what the rear-end of the G81 M3 Touring will look like.
Looks like the standard BMW 3 Series tail lights will be brought over to the M3 Touring, the G81 M3 Touring will also feature a massive black diffuser with quad exhaust pipes as well as black skirting to match.
Power will most likely come from the M3 Competition’s twin-turbocharged engine that churns out 510 PS and 610 Nm. Since the sedan can manage 3.9 seconds to a century, expect the G81 M3 Touring to manage a slower pace of around 4 seconds instead.
