Few things warrant your attention as quickly as BMW's recent grilles, and our first look at the 2022 BMW 7 Series and its electric (EV) counterpart, BMW i7 further proves that. Now that we have your interest, on to the car...
The duo will be launched in April in both guises, and BMW says the electric version will become the most powerful 7 Series on offer. Them's fighting words; clearly a challenge to the similarly all-electric, Malaysia-bound Mercedes-Benz EQS.
Aesthetics are picked from Munich's recent catalogue, so headlining that are the illuminated (like the equally big-nosed Concept XM) kidney grilles that look like it can swallow lane-hogging Myvis whole.
As the most powerful 7, BMW says the i7 will move very quickly and rather far too, with claimed outputs of "more than 600 PS" and a WLTP range hovering around 580 - 610 km. Power consumption is rated at 18.9 to 19.7 kWh/100 km, also on the WLTP test cycle.
Other than that it will feature Level 2+ autonomous driving, and inside there's the latest generation iDrive, a curved display, and a 31-inch display for the rear passengers dubbed the 'Theatre Screen' which folds out of the roof liner, and it's capable of 8K quality too. "Don't sit too close to the TV?" Never heard of it...
