The all-new 2021 Peugeot 508 has probably clocked thousands of kilometers of testing mileage in Malaysia, but it's Singapore who's beaten us to be the first in the ASEAN region to introduce the slinky D-segment sedan.
Exterior - Better than Camry?
Singapore gets the sole GT variant, with prices starting from SGD 159,888 (~RM 460k). It's pretty feature-packed, with auto-leveling LED headlights, adaptive-brightness LED taillights, swanky frameless doors, and 18-inch dual-tone 'Hirone' wheels being standard fitments.
Sprinkling extra visual flair is the GT Pack, which adds on chrome exhaust tips on the outside, and carbon-effect trims in the cabin to go with its black headliner.
Interior - Futuristic, large screens
Inside, there's Nappa leather seats, dual-zone air-conditioning (with rear air-cond vents), as well as a tilt-and-telescopic adjustable leather steering wheel.
The 508 also receives Peugeot's nifty i-Cockpit 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports voice recognition, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Creature-comforts wise, the Singapore-spec 508 gets a Qi wireless charger, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, blue ambient lighting, as well as electronically-adjustable front seats with massage function.
Powertrain - No hybrids here
Sitting on the PSA EMP2 platform, the Singapore-spec 508 gets a 1.6-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 181 PS / 250 Nm, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
This is a powertrain that we expect the Malaysian-spec car to mirror.
Safety - ADAS features to boot
Besides the requisite driver, passenger, and curtain airbags, the 508's gets ADAS features too, namely:
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Front Collision Warning (FCW)
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
Other safety features include a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, brake assist, and stability control.

Closer to home, the 508 has been earmarked for launch alongside the Peugeot 2008 SUV.
