Several dealers across Malaysia have opened bookings for the all-new 2022Mazda BT-50. It seems that two variants will be offered, and prices start from RM 124,179 for the purported 1.9-litre High Double Cab variant, and RM 143,218 for the 3.0-litre High Plus Double Cab.
Said dealers also mention that early units are fully-imported (CBU Thailand), and prices quoted are on-the-road sans insurance.
Sales and service tax (SST) discounted prices do not apply for the BT-50, as it is only applicable for passenger cars. Commercial vehicles like pick-up trucks don't qualify for the discount/exemption.
This generation of the BT-50 is based on the latest Isuzu D-Max, and as such, ports over its engines.
Both are turbodiesel mills, with the 1.9-litre one making 150 PS and 350 Nm, while the 3.0-litre engine produces 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Paired to them is a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission.
Beneath the Kodo-inspired skin is a pick-up truck that leans more towards the premium, urban side of things.
Mazda's redesigned the interior to fit the rest of their line-up (with 'fine materials' to boot), and the company also says that the BT-50's seating position is more driver-centric too.
Features in the Thai-spec BT-50 includes 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, 8 speakers, and a 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Higher-end variants also gain advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions.
Of course, this news comes before any official announcement from Bermaz Motor Sdn. Bhd. themselves. Stay tuned as we bring you more as we have it.
