BYD makes its 1 millionth EV after just 13 years, exports to Norway

19-May will go down in history as a milestone for BYD, as this Chinese car manufacturer has rolled out its one millionth new energy passenger vehicle (EV to us). Quite a remarkable feat, considering that BYD sold its first EV in 2008.

At the same time, BYD also marked the start of exports of the first 100 units of the BYD Tang SUV to Norway. 

The one-millionth EV produced by BYD is the Han EV sedan. This sedan can be had with two motor options, the first is with a 163-kW motor with a 605 km range, while the other is fitted with a dual-motor set-up, allowing for a combined output of 363-kW and a 550 km range. The latter is the flagship variant in the Han line-up.

As mentioned earlier, this event also coincides with BYD’s plan to start exports to Europe. Earlier, BYD announced that a total of 1,500 units of the Tang SUV will be delivered to Norway before the end of the year. For the European market, BYD will be offering pure electric (EV) models; no petrol models will be offered there.

BYD’s milestone event was attended by a number of VIPs, including Rolf Petter Almklov, Commercial Counsellor, Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, alongside Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD.
