Camry bursts into flames as a result of lit cigarette and hand sanitizer combo

Though it certainly is important to sanitize your hands wherever you are, try not to do it close to a flame. Like a lighted cigarette as this Camry driver experienced.

According to American news outlets, the incident happened at a shopping centre parking lot in Rockville, Maryland. Thankfully, despite the burned-out condition of the Camry, no one was killed in the incident and the lone driver escaped with minor burns.

Fire officials said the fire was accidentally caused by the driver. He was smoking a cigarette while sat in his car and then started to use the hand sanitizer.

The combination of the lit cigarette with the flammable hygiene product in an un-ventilated car results in a literal bang as the Camry turned into a burnt wreck.

Firefighters managed to put out the blaze and this incident should act as a warning to others about the dangers of using hand sanitizer around flammable products. Most hand sanitizers contain isopropyl alcohol which is flammable.
