• 2022 W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class CBU units sold out
• Orders for CKD now being collected

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has arranged a media test drive event for the 2022 (W206) Mercedes-Benz C-Class (which is currently ongoing so stay tuned for the review) and in an interview session with WapCar.my, we were told that all fully-imported (CBU) units have been sold out and deliveries have begun.

Vice-President Michael Jopp said, “The response for the C-Class has been great. All CBU units are sold out and we’re now collecting orders for the CKD (locally-assembled) model, which will arrive in H2 later this year.”

No further details of the CKD 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class were divulged, but we can expect the usual change in prices and possibly some changes in specifications. Bear in mind that come H2 2022, the full 10 percent sales tax is expected to be applied and the price differences may not be significant.

To recap, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was launched with two variants on offer – the C200 Avantgarde and C300 AMG Line, priced at RM 288,334 and RM 330,681 respectively. Both were fully-imported (CBU), either from Bremen, Germany or East London, South Africa.

The Mercedes-Benz C200 is equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired a 48V integrated starter generator (ISG), making it a mild-hybrid (MHEV) unit (Mercedes calls it EQ Boost). It makes 204 PS/300 Nm.

Meanwhile, the C300 gets a mild-hybrid 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 258 PS/400 Nm. Both engines are paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
