It was a record-setting month for Chery in June 2022 as they sold 35,818 vehicles outside of China, marking a phenomenal increase of 50.3 percent year-on-year. All in, their total exports for H1 2022 now stands at 148,000 units, a 24.9 percent rise. Impressively, 112,000 units of their first half exports were new energy vehicles.
Of particular interest was Chery’s Brazil sales performance in H1 2022 that sees them ranked ninth overall among carmakers and their Arrizo 6 ranked fourth in cumulative H1 2022 sales with a segment share of 3.62 percent. The sedan was even awarded Best Resale Value in the intermediate segment by Kelley Blue Book and Quatro Rodas.

Chery also sold 21,300 units of the Tiggo 8 in Brazil for the first half of the year. The Tiggo 8 also serves as presidential and state transport in the South American country.

Chile was also a strong market for the brand, commanding 6.7 percent of H1 2022 sales to place it in the top 3 for sales volume. The Tiggo 2 led the charge for the SUV segment with 6,088 units sold, comfortably helping it to top spot in the segment and Chery to a nice 15.1 percent slice of the segment’s pie.

Since entering South Africa last year, Chery has maintained a strong growth momentum and good market performance. Cumulative January-May sales jumped 21.1 percent month-on-month while June sales were also impressive.

Chery entered South Africa as a subsidiary in August 2021 and topped the SUV segment in less than 10 months from the launch of its first product. The carmaker also embraced its corporate social responsibility in early April 2022 when it held public benefit by donating to provide water and other supplies to underprivileged areas, to alleviate water shortages caused by typhoon in the Kwazulu-Natal region.
“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
