It's no secret the Chery Omoda 5 is heading to Malaysia, and in the process the carmaker has formed a Facebook group. Now, they've published a new survey asking for opinions on the model, and along with it released preliminary specs of the upcoming SUV.

Most telling are the the dimensions (4,440 mm long, 1,824 mm wide, 1,604 mm tall, sitting on a 2,630 mm wheelbase), which puts it squarely in the size-segment currently occupied by the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Proton X70.

Then the survey sheds some light on powertrains too. Chery lists two different engines: a 1.5-litre TCI (156 PS/230 Nm), and a 1.6-litre TGDI (198 PS/290 Nm). Apparently there may be choices between a CVT-type automatic transmission and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) as well.
Whether or not we'll get one or the other – or both – is obviously still up in the air.

Moving down the questionnaire Chery also asks about most-wanted features, of which a few stick out: there's the option of a Sony-supplied infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and full ADAS. You can also write your own thoughts in the provided columns.
