Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 in Malaysia, almost 3 years since the model made its global debut. The new performance SUV is locally-assembled (CKD) at the Pekan facility.

For bookings made before 30-June 2022, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 is priced from RM 345,048. From 1-July onwards, this performance SUV is priced from RM 363,888.

Alongside this performance SUV, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also introduced the 2022 Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan.

As for its powertrain, the locally-assembled GLA 35 is motivated by a turbocharged 2.0-litre M260 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 306 PS and 400 Nm. Shifting duties are taken care of by an 8-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch automatic, hooked up to the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system, enabling a 5.2-second century sprint time.

Compared to the regular GLA, the hotter GLA 35 stablemate gets larger 350 mm cross-drilled rotors up front and 330 mm units at the rear.

Other AMG-specific bits include AMG Dynamic Select drive modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual), AMG exhaust system, AMG Ride Control suspension system, and AMG-specific front grille.

As for kit count, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 gets Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus headlights, 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels, Thermotronic automatic air-conditioning, dual 10.25-inch screens, Mercedes me LTE connectivity, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Audio is piped through a Burmester sound system.

The AMG-specific sport seats are wrapped in Artico leather and Dinamica combination upholstery with contrasting red stitching. There’s also AMG floor mats and eye-catching designo red seat belts.

Safety kit consists of 7 airbags, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, and Blind Spot Assist.
