The reinstatement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will start tonight, 14 October 2020, at 12.01 am for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya. Like before, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will be setting up roadblocks at several locations in the 3 states as part of enforcing the lockdown.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani told Bernama: “The roadblocks will be mounted in the same way as before (during the MCO in early March). Instructions for the deployment of police officers to the roadblock locations will be arranged by the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief and Selangor Police Chief.”

To assist PDRM with enforcing CMCO, the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will help with mounting the roadblocks as well. This is similar to when Malaysia went into a full lockdown on 18 March 2020.

The decision to implement CMCO upon the 3 states was announced yesterday during the daily press conference held by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

According to Ismail Sabri, the decision was jointly reached at a special National Security Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after consulting with the Health Ministry.

In recent weeks, the number of Covid-19 cases has been steadily increasing in Klang, Petaling and Gombak districts prompting the government to take quick action to curb the increase in numbers. As it is, residents in Klang have been observing CMCO since 9 October 2020.

Stay home and stay safe, make sure to sanitise frequently.
