A 50-second road rage video detailing an incident between a food delivery rider and a driver went viral over the weekend. KL police have open investigation papers regarding the incident.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said in a statement that the incident is investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act respectively for criminal intimidation and insulting behaviour.
He added that the paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office once investigations are completed. He also encourages the public to stop sharing the video as it could lead to public anxiety.
In the video, a motorcyclist could be seen shouting at the driver who was trying to explain why he sounded his horn. But the motorcyclist refused to accept the explanation and tried chasing after the driver while shouting expletives.
He was even seen kicking the car and trying to open the car door while both vehicles were moving. The video came to an end when both vehicles stopped at a traffic light and the motorcyclist got off his bike to further intimidate the driver.
The incident is believed to have happened along Persiaran KLCC on 24-June-2021. Since then, the video has been shared across various social media platforms and catching the Royal Malaysian Police’s attention.
