Nearly 20,000 bookings, or 65 percent of the 30,000 total bookings collected for the all-new 2022 Perodua Alza are for the highest specifications AV variant, said Perodua President and CEO, Dato' Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

The all-new 2022 Perodua Alza is available in three variants:

• Alza 1.5 X: RM 62,500
• Alza 1.5 H: RM 68,000
• Alza 1.5 AV: RM 75,500

All variants are powered by the same aluminum block 2NR-VE 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine. The new Dual VVT-i engine replaces the previous Alza’s 3SZ-VE DVVT engine.

The engine is shared with the Perodua Myvi, Toyota Vios, and Toyota Yaris – the latter two with a different FE suffix for the engine code – and makes 106 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4,200 rpm.

Drive is transferred to the front wheels via a new D-CVT automatic transmission shared with the Perodua Ativa and Myvi.

The highest specifications AV variant adds the following items:

• Rear disc brakes
• 2-tone dashboard
• 2-tone brown-black half fabric-leather seats
• High stack rear centre arm rest with soft pad
• Electric parking brake
• Adaptive cruise control with Stop-Go
• Lane Keep Assist
• Blind spot monitor
• Rear cross-traffic alert
• 360-degree parking camera
• 9-inch infotainment with Android Auto
• Built-in dashcam

Six airbags, Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Braking (Perodua's version of AEB) are available as standard across the range.

All these for RM 7,500 more than the mid-range H variant’s asking price of RM 68,000.

Perodua says it aims to deliver 4,300 units of the Alza within this month, and that monthly production is targeted at 3,000 units.

With over 30,000 outstanding bookings, it will take Perodua about 10 months to clear the backlog. In other words, if you are to place a booking for a new Alza, the estimated waiting period will be at around 10 months.
