Indonesia has just hosted the launch of the all-new 2022 Toyota Vios. The archipelago is the third country in this region to introduce the all-new Vios, after Thailand and Laos.
While the previous-generation Vios was locally-assembled (CKD) at Toyota’s Karawang plant, the all-new 2022 Vios is now imported (CBU) from Thailand.
This in turn has bumped prices of the all-new 2023 Vios by 25 to 26 percent, depending on variant.

To recap, the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios is developed under the Daihatsu's 'D' nomenclature D92A project code, because the development is lead by Daihatsu, under a Toyota-Daihatsu co-owned internal company called Emerging Market Car Company (EMCC). Malaysian engineers from Perodua also contributed to the regional project as Perodua is now a regional R&D hub for Daihatsu, and by that same extension, part of EMCC too.
Closer to home, Malaysia won't be launching the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios so soon, owing to lead time necessary for local assembly (CKD) work.
