Dato' fined only RM 2k for assaulting the woman who honked at him

Social media users are collectively shocked with a viral post uploaded on 16 December 2020 by a 27-year-old woman claiming that she was assaulted by a Dato’. The man has since been charged with a RM 2,000 fine.
According to the victim’s Facebook post, the victim was trying to enter her condominium parking lot when she discovered the entrance was blocked by a dark blue Mercedes-Benz C-Class. She honked at the obstructing car to inform the driver of her intention to enter the parking lot.
After she parked her car and proceeded to her condominium lobby, she found her way blocked by a man in his 50s who confronted her for honking him before physically assaulting her.
Fortunately, she was able to shake free from the man’s grasp and call for help. But while waiting for the police, security guards detained the attacker in the car park and she alleged that the man had a chopper tucked into the back of his pants.
She added that the chopper was quickly disposed of when the authorities arrive to arrest him.
The man, who was later revealed to be a Dato’ and a restaurant owner was arrested on the same day and pleaded guilty for voluntarily causing hurt to another person. He was charged yesterday (17.12.2020) under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
According to the post, the suspect’s sons have apologised to the victim on their father’s behalf and pleaded with her not to press charges because their father was under heavy stressed. However, she refused to comply with their plea and filed a police report on the assault.
Carrying a weapon in your car is against the law and a chopper definitely qualifies as a weapon that would cause harm.
