RHB's latest investment report says that Malaysians can expect the all-new 2021 Mazda BT-50 to launch on our shores this year.
Having made its global debut this time last year, the third generation (TF) BT-50 is actually a Kodo-injected reskin of the equally-new Isuzu D-Max.

Far from just being a pretty face, it shares the same 1.9-litre (150 PS / 350 Nm) and 3.0-litre (190 PS / 450 Nm) engines too, besides coming with a locking rear differential.

Already available in Thailand, the BT-50 takes the fight against familiar stalwarts like the D-Max, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, and the Ford Ranger, coming with a healthy list of creature comforts and active safety systems.
Depending on variant, Thai-spec BT-50s get up to a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), corresponding 8-speaker surround sound system, as well as dual-zone automatic climate control.
Beyond these, the BT-50 comes with the following safety features, at least in Thailand:
- Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring (ABSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Hill Descent Control (HDC)
- Hill Launch Assist (HLA)
- Front and rear parking sensors
- 6 airbags
- Anti-whiplash front seats
- Seatbelt reminders
Bermaz is still tight-lipped about the model's Malaysian launch timeline, let alone its prices.
That said, a slight increase is expected owing to the upmarket flavour and additional equipment. For context, the outgoing BT-50 was last priced from RM 102k to RM 120k here.
