The 2022 Alza is the first Perodua to offer Android Auto
Perodua mentioned that CarPlay is available during the preview
We tried to get Apple CarPlay to work, but it won't run, why?
Perodua just pulled the covers off the all-new 2022 Perodua Alza, replacing the first generation model that was on sale for a whopping 13 years.
One curious omission we noticed was the lack of Apple CarPlay, despite having Android Auto as the headlining feature. Usually it is the other way around, some cars offer Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto (Looking at you, Nissan Almera), as the latter isn’t officially launched here.
In fact, during the initial preview session of the D27A Perodua Alza, we were informed that the MPV would be fitted with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. That explains why our video of the Alza also mentioned that it comes with Apple CarPlay.
However, upon closer inspection, we couldn’t get Apple CarPlay to run, despite following instructions from the owner’s manual. Yes, Apple CarPlay was even mentioned in the owner’s manual.
As a brief recap, Android Auto is only available on the top-spec Alza 1.5 AV variant via its 9-inch infotainment system. Despite sharing a similar screen size as the lower spec Alza 1.5 H variant, it runs on a completely different software, as evident from its different user interface (UI).
The all-new 2022 Perodua Alza is priced from RM 62,500 to RM 75,500. Book one today and you’ll likely have to wait 9 to 10 months before getting the keys to your fancy new MPV.
