The facelifted 2020 Toyota Hilux is here, so let's do a quick rundown on what's new:
I heard there's a new variant?
This is the biggest change in this facelift, there's a new range-topper, and it's the Hilux Rogue. It's a step-up from the outgoing Hilux Black Edition, and we've outlined it here.
It's the only one with a 2.8-litre engine, and it gets a whole lot of aesthetic and performance upgrades. We think it's a pretty complete package for a pick-up truck, read our review here!
What about the rest of the range?
A smattering of aesthetic changes all round. There's a redesigned front-end (with a new bumper, grille, headlights and foglamp bezels) that give it an overall more imposing look.
Along the sides are new wheels.
At the back, there's a set of refreshed LED combination taillights with a new illumination pattern.
The interior has been given a refresh as well, with new metallic-coloured trim pieces, and different seat materials (fabric for 2.4 E and G, leather for 2.4 V and 2.8 Rogue).
The instrument cluster is also updated with a cleaner dials, new pointers and fonts.
Any performance improvements?
The 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel (2GD-FTV) has an upgraded fuel rail putting out higher fuel pressure (250 MPa now, from 220 MPa previously). Fuel consumption is said to have improved by 5 percent, but power output stays the same at 150 PS and 400 Nm.
The 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV mill in the Rogue - carried over from the pre-facelift Black Edition - has got a power bump. The turbocharged diesel now makes 204 PS and 500 Nm (up from 177 PS and 450 Nm) thanks to an improved turbo cooling system and increase in fuel rail pressure.
Only the single-cab and 2.4 G variant come with a 6-speed manual, the rest get 6-speed automatics.
What else is new?
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) makes its apperance in the Rogue. It comes with:
