Disappointed with the lack of action from the government, Sepanggar Member of Parliament Azis Jamman took it upon himself to repair a stretch of badly damaged road. The repairs took all day and the MP was seen working until midnight to ensure that the roads were properly repaired.
According to a Free Malaysia Today (FMT) report, Azis had received many complaints about damaged roads in the area. He has even seen viral videos of accidents happening on the stretch of road caused by bad road conditions.

The Warisan representative took matters into his own hands and purchased the necessary equipment so he and a group of volunteers could repair the roads themselves.
Azis uploaded various photos of the process on his official Facebook page, the group was seen working under the hot sun all the way until midnight.

He stresses that road repair works should be carried out by the governing council and not an MP. However, he was disappointed that though he has brought up the issue multiple times at the Dewan Rakyat, there is still no fund allocation given for the repair of damaged roads.
He added that he understands that the lack of allocation could be due to the state government’s lack of funds as they too did not receive enough allocation from the federal government.
Hence, he decided to take it upon himself to act with funds and machinery he personally purchased. Azis also did not forget to show his appreciation to the volunteers and donors who pitched in to help.
Azis also stresses that his actions were not a bid to gain sympathy or votes from the people despite the upcoming General Elections.
