Geely is not slowing down one bit. Following the introduction of the redesigned 2021 Geely Binyue facelift a couple of weeks ago – they will be introducing the updated 2021 Geely Boyue X next, better known in Malaysia as the Proton X70.
Sources indicate that the new Boyue X will be launched on 27-August. The new Boyue X could replace the regular Boyue, or could be placed between Boyue and upper rung Boyue Pro.
This is perhaps one of the Boyue’s biggest redesign exercise. The front-end features a massive, black X-theme design. Geely’s signature ‘Expanding Cosmos’ front grille is also nowhere to be found. Rounding off the front-end are deep inserts at the edge of the bumper.
It is also worth noting that this will most likely be the final facelift for the current-generation Geely Boyue, as the next-generation CMA-based replacement model will be launch in the near future.
The rear-end of the new Boyue X can be had with a rear privacy glass and even more trim pieces. Look closely and you can spot a faux spoiler fitted above the tailgate trim with the Geely wording. Moving downwards, the new Boyue X gets a more prominent rear diffuser, with the option of various coloured trim pieces. Other optional bits include smoked tail lights, black roof rails, and a black roof.
And yes, the new Boyue X will also be wearing the same 19-inch alloy wheels like the recently-launched Proton X70 SE.
Powertrain-wise, the upcoming Geely Boyue X is said to get the same turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine (184 PS, 300 Nm) like the Proton X70, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. In China, the regular Boyue is fitted with the same 1.8-litre mill like the X70, while the Boyue Pro adds a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine to the mix.
