Chery has been gearing up for the international launch of the Omoda 5 for months, now we have our first look at the Omoda 5’s interior with the steering wheel on the right side.
The teaser was uploaded on Chery Australia’s official Facebook page. We also get a glimpse of the SUV’s flat bottom steering wheel, 10.25-inch seamless dual screen, as well as a wireless charging pad for smartphones.
Other than that, the teaser also shows off the Omoda 5’s 64-colour ambient lighting. The lights can be linked to the driving mode, unlocking/ opening the doors, the air-conditioner temperature, as well as the music rhythm for an immersive experience.
In case you didn’t know, the Omoda 5 was created with the international market in mind. Even before the SUV was launched in China, Chery had already announced its intention to market the car overseas.
In addition to the complete suite of ADAS, the SUV in right-hand-drive markets will also be equipped with a Driver Management System (DMS) that will detect the driver’s state and help reduce the risks caused by fatigue driving.
The DMS uses a HD camera with 2 million pixels and dual LED fill-in lights to monitor the driver’s facial expressions in real time. To get the driver’s attention, the system will release timely visual and auditory reminders of different degrees to alert the driver.
Launched in China back in July, the Omoda 5 is more than ready to go globetrotting. And it looks like Australia will be the first right-hand-drive market it will make its debut as Chery Australia hopes to launch the SUV before the year is out.
Malaysia is one of the countries Chery has ear-marked to launch the Omoda 5, with the Aussie debut soon, it won't be long before the SUV is launched on our shores as well. Watch this space for more updates!
