The Toyota Land Cruiser is considered by many as the king of off-roaders. Its reliability and off-roading capability make it the best of both worlds for adventuring enthusiasts. However, this immaculate classic Land Cruiser is just too clean to be muddied.
This is probably the most pristine example of a classic Land Cruiser ever existed in Malaysia. It is on sale now at Mercity Garage in Petaling Jaya, for RM 128,000.
That sounds like a lot of dough for a classic Land Cruiser and it isn’t an early model either. Rather, this Land Cruiser BJ46 was built in 1984, during its final run. The Land Cruiser J40-series was built from 1960 to 1984 in Japan but its production continued in Brazil all the way until 2001 as the Toyota Bandeirante.
Before we dive a little deeper into this masterpiece of a Land Cruiser, let’s talk about the codename for a moment. This is listed as a BJ46; the B stands for the diesel engine that is powering this 37-year-old 4x4, a 3.4-litre inline-4 diesel engine that produces 91 PS and 217 Nm. That oil-burner is paired to a 4-speed manual transmission with part-time four-wheel drive.

Next is the number 46 which in turn shows the value of this icon. The BJ46 slots between the standard short-wheelbase BJ45 and the long-wheelbase BJ42 in the J40-series line-up. This intermediate wheelbase is considered among the rarest variation of the Land Cruiser.
This particular BJ46 has a removable rear soft top that covers two side-facing rear seats. These seats can sit up to six people and if you want more space, you can simply fold them up.
This brown classic Toyota 4x4 has been meticulously restored in Japan and was imported into Malaysia in 2015. The dealer listed that the Land Cruiser has only done around 60,000 km of mileage which is very low for a vehicle of its age.
