Last week, TC Subaru Sdn Bhd announced a very enticing offer called Drive Now, Pay Later with Maybank. Going through Subaru’s press release did not reveal any information, so we went ahead and checked with Subaru dealers ourselves.

So, what’s the catch?

In short, there are two options for potential customers who wants to purchase a brand-new Subaru Forester.

The first option is to take the RM 30k discount, while the second option is the earlier mentioned 15-month free installment program. In the case of the latter, customers only need to start paying the fixed monthly installment from the 16th month onwards.

Sales advisors that we spoke to advised customers to opt for the RM 30k rebate instead, as interest rates for hire purchase are now very low at 2.33%, depending on customer profile. If customers opt for the free 15-month installment program, the interest rate ranges from 2.70% to 2.90%, depending on loan tenure and loan amount.

This promotion covers units manufacured in 2019 and 2020, and prices start from RM 129,788 for a 2019 manufactured Forester 2.0iS variant.

Under this promotion, the standard 5-year warranty still applies, though without the 3-year free maintenance program and 5-year free labour service. Units manufactured in 2021 are eligible for all these benefits.
