After the closure of Honda’s Sayama plant in Japan, several Honda models including the popular Honda Odyssey were discontinued.

Now, in a surprising turn of events, Honda has opened the order books for an updated Honda Odyssey. It is set to go on sale in Japan within Q4 2023.

Compared to the model it replaces, this new Odyssey gets a dose of blacked-out bits, including the front grille, side mirrors, and tail lights.

Inside, the revived Honda Odyssey gets second-row 4-way powered seats with armrests, Qi wireless charger, Type-A and Type-C USB charging ports, and push button-type gear selector.

This new Odyssey is aptly called the Odyssey e:HEV Absolute EX Black Edition.

As the name suggests, the Odyssey gets Honda’s trick two-motor, full-hybrid solution. The 2.0-litre petrol engine works in conjunction with two electric motors for a combined system output of 215 PS and 315 Nm.

According to BestCarWeb, the revived Honda Odyssey will be imported (CBU) from Honda’s Dalian plant in China. Like many other Japanese marques operating in China, Honda has two joint ventures too – Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda. The Odyssey is manufactured by Guanqi Honda, while Dongfeng Honda sells the Honda Elysion (not to be confused with the Japanese market Elysion).
