The Honda HR-V has been a sales success for Honda Malaysia ever since it was first launched back in 2015. After 6 years and with competition in the B-segment SUV heating up, the HR-V is due for a replacement.
As a farewell of sorts for the hot-selling SUV, Honda Malaysia is launching a special run-out model simply called the Honda HR-V SE. Limited to only a few units and priced from RM 105,364, this special edition HR-V comes with the following features:
It is worth noting that the HR-V SE is RM 1,364 more than the base E variant it is based on while equipped with more goodies.
The powertrain remains the same, a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine that is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. That engine produces 142 PS and 172 Nm.
With the outgoing HR-V due to be replaced by an all-new successor, the only question now is how soon will the Malaysian debut be?
Last we reported, the all-new HR-V could be making its ASEAN debut in Thailand in late-2021 and there have been a few camouflaged units spotted doing tests around the Kingdom.
The next-gen HR-V could also see the 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine (182 PS/240 Nm) replacing the 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine.
The third-gen HR-V first debuted in Japan as the Vezel back in February and has been a sales sensation ever since it was launched with long waiting periods.
There, the Vezel is sold with either a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine (118 PS/142 Nm) or an e:HEV petrol-hybrid variant (Petrol engine: 106PS/127 Nm, electric motor: 131 PS/253 Nm).
Back in Malaysia, the all-new HR-V is expected to be launched here in early-2022 but due to the months-long lockdown, the local debut’s launch could be pushed back further.
