BMW India has opened bookings for the upcoming long wheelbase (LWB) BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine - essentially a stretched version the 3 Series that we are all familiar with. The new long-wheelbase 3 Series will be launched in India on 21-January, marking the first country to receive the right-hand-drive (RHD) version of the model.

First things first. The G28 3 Series Gran Limousine (G20 long wheelbase) features a wheelbase that is 110 mm longer than the standard car, adding another 43 mm to the rear legroom. The seats also receive better cushions and bolsters than the regular 3 Series.
As a result, the G28 3 Series Gran Limousine boast an overall length of 4,829 mm. Its 1,463 mm height is also marginally taller than the regular G20 3 Series (1,435 mm), though the width remains unchanged (1,827 mm).

Exterior-wise, the G28 3 Series Gran Limousine is largely identical to the regular model, albeit with some minor tweaks. One of the biggest hint, apart from the 330Li or 320Ld emblems, is the marginally longer rear doors.

For the Indian market, BMW will offer the 3 Series Gran Limousine with two engines: a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol that does 258 PS and 400 Nm (330Li) and a turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel that does 190 PS and 400 Nm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
