Looks like the Philippines government is not the only entity that has no qualms destroying cars to get their point across. The Chinese authorities also pick the destruction route, though instead of crushing the rare one-off luxury cars, they leave them to rot in this ‘car graveyard’ in Hangzhou instead.
Geely’s External Communications Director, Ashley Sutcliffe brought the viewers of Geely Uncut to a yard where cars that were confiscated by the Chinese authorities were left to rot.

Like the Philippines’ Bureau of Customs (BOC), the equivalent of JPJ in Malaysia, the Chinese authorities would rather have these cars destroyed rather than auction them off to interested bidders.
They believe that leaving them to reach a state beyond repair would get the point across better to prevent Chinese citizens from committing crimes in order to afford these expensive cars.

In the video, there is a Chevrolet C7 Corvette that looks to have been sitting there for a while, a top-of-the-range Porsche Panamera Turbo that has a sign saying it was confiscated in 2020, and an overgrown 2010 Audi R8.
But these are cars that were still left in one piece. There is also a Bentley Flying Spur that looks like scavengers have tried to get into, while in another corner an Aston Martin Vantage convertible sits with a missing badge.

It’s not the most expensive car graveyard that you can find if you think about it, there’s an even more expensive one in Dubai, but let’s have a moment of silence for these luxury cars that have been left to rot all thanks to its owner’s misdeeds.
There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
