Recently, reports from China emerged mentioning that Geely is currently developing an entirely new B-segment sedan.
Rough translation: The Geely SS11 is said to get C-segment-like wheelbase, but priced like a B-segment sedan. The model is expected to go on sale in May 2021 with an estimated annual production of 220k units.
Market segmentations are different in China.
Codenamed SS11, the new B-segment sedan is said to go on sale as soon as May 2021 and will compete against segment rivals such as the Toyota Vios and Honda City.
BMA platform, developed by Geely-Volvo's CEVT, used by the Proton X50
The SS11 codename, according to the reports, is a hint that the new sedan could be developed on Geely’s B-segment BMA platform, much like the SX11 (Geely Binyue or Proton X50). While most of Geely’s new models are either built on the BMA or CMA platform, the older Dihao and Yuanjing series are still utilizing older-generation platforms.

Power is said to come from a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that does 108 PS and 145 Nm, mated to a CVT-type automatic transmission.
Closer to home, the Geely SS11 could be a likely candidate to replace the ageing Proton Persona. Recall that the current-generation Proton Persona's underpinnings can be traced back to the Proton Iriz, itself dating back to 2014.
The Persona and Iriz's older platform was never designed with ADAS hardware or hybrid powertrains in mind, thus severely limiting its long-term sustainability.
With that said however, no decision has been made so far due to the BMA platform’s high-cost nature.
