Geely's new hybrid powertrain to launch this year: 2L/100 km fuel consumption, over 2,000 km range per tank

Announced by Geely Auto Group CEO Gan Jiayue at the 2024 World New Energy Vehicles Congress, the company's new hybrid system is set to launch later this year, reports Gasgoo.

Boasting a 46% thermal efficiency – the highest globally for a hybrid powertrain – Geely’s latest innovation promises to deliver a significant leap forward in terms of fuel economy and range, with a claimed full tank and full battery range exceeding 2,000 km. Fuel consumption? One of the big talking points - an estimated 2-litre/100 km.

Key to this is Geely’s new-generation Leishen electric hybrid system, which incorporates an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive. This setup, Geely claims, is the lightest and most efficient in the industry, achieving over 90% efficiency under China’s CLTC testing conditions.

In simple terms, that means more of the energy produced is put to good use, delivering better performance while minimising waste.

There’s also a focus on sustainability. Geely’s silicon carbide hybrid drive technology reduces the use of costly silicon carbide components by over 75%, all while maintaining high overall efficiency. This step not only helps keep production costs in check but also paves the way for broader adoption of 800V systems.

Gan Jiayue emphasised that these advancements are part of Geely’s global strategy, aiming to bring these high-performance, energy-efficient vehicles to a worldwide audience.
