Going viral, is the 2022 Honda HR-V already in Malaysia? Not true

Like a pandemic-that-shall-not-be-named, pictures of a silver 2022 Honda HR-V are going viral since last weekend. It's easy to see why: a quick glance, and would assume it's a Malaysian-market car sitting in a dealer's lot somewhere (especially if you spot the Axia and Myvi behind), but that's a rumour we'll torch here.
The HR-V is actually a Singapore-market car, identifiable by its Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) toll reader on the driver's side of the windscreen, and Kah Motor designation on its number plates. Kah Motor is the brand's official distributor in the island, although they do have dealers in Malaysia too.
Beyond that, these photos were usually followed by dealers mentioning that bookings for the 2022 Honda HR-V in Malaysia are open. At the moment these are unofficial orders, and official order taking for the Malaysian-spec HR-V by Honda Malaysia will only begin in the second half of this year (H2 2022), after the SST exemption period ends.
Given that these bookings are still unofficial, we'd advise to never pay money directly to any sales advisor's (SA) personal bank account, just to be safe. Best to wait till official order books are open.
