Through its comprehensive training and certification programs, BMW Malaysia is challenging the stereotype of automotive technicians as blue-collar workers and aims to showcase the level of knowledge and technical skills required in the field of IT and vehicle electrical systems.

Through its BMW High Voltage Expert (HVE) Certification program, BMW Malaysia aims to develop the local electric vehicle (EV) workforce via the BMW Group Regional Training Centre in Malaysia, the only one of its kind for BMW outside Germany.

A BMW High Voltage Expert is a specialised talent who works at the highest level on BMW electric vehicles. The certification allows these experts to service and repair the most advanced BMW i vehicles worldwide. This program not only contributes to the development of skilled professionals but also supports the growth of the EV ecosystem in Malaysia.

Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, β€œAt the BMW Group, we recognise that service and repair are important points of consideration for many customers of our EV portfolio, many of which have shared concerns with the lack of technical know-how in Malaysia that dampens their interest to make the switch to EVs,"

He adds, "To ensure that our customers have greater peace of mind when it comes to the ownership of their electric vehicles, we took it upon ourselves to develop an extensive network of charging infrastructure nationwide and introduced the HVE certification here to also complement the uptake of electromobility in the past few years.”

As part of its commitment to the EV ecosystem, BMW Group Malaysia has already established over 1,000 charging facilities within its network. The company plans to further expand its strategic infrastructure and add more charging facilities in the coming year.

Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
