Talks about carmakers entering Malaysia – or in this case, re-entering – are exciting for a couple of reasons: first, there'll be more choices for buyers, and second, it means more job opportunities for qualified Malaysians.
Both applies to Great Wall Motors (GWM), purveyors of the Haval and ORA brands. Their resurgence into the ASEAN market includes Malaysia, which explains the sightings of the Haval H6, Haval Jolion, GWM Pao, and Ora Good Cat, Black Cat late last year.
As good as their products may seem – the Thais like the H6, as it has been outselling the Honda CR-V by nearly double so far in 2022 – the brand has got their work cut out for them in Malaysia, work that needs plenty of new staff.
In line with that, GWM's JobStreet page currently has 8 jobs to apply for in almost all areas of the company, including finance, project management, as well as in sales & marketing, each promising a 'very competitive remuneration package and a comprehensive range of benefits'.
It's exciting prospects for Chinese car brands in Malaysia (or even those looking for something else than a Honda or Toyota), as besides GWM, Chery is looking to break into the Malaysian market too.
With humble beginnings collecting diecast models and spending hours virtually tuning dream cars on the computer, his love of cars has delightfully transformed into a career. Sanjay enjoys how the same passion for cars transcends boundaries and brings people together.
