GWM launches G-Charge Supercharging Station; Largest public DC fast-charging facility in Thailand

In another bid to help Thailand realise its electric vehicle (EV) goal, Great Wall Motors (GWM) has launched its new G-Charge Supercharging Station. The station is the largest public EV fast-charging facility with solar system in Thailand.

Located in the heart of Bangkok, the fast-charging station features three DC charging units each with two CCS Type 2 connectors. This means that the station has six connectors that have a maximum charging load of 160 kW.

Up to six EVs can be charged simultaneously. Thanks to the station’s smart parking system, users can easily book a charging time slot, pay, and then use the charging services via the GWM Application.

GWM is currently working on allowing users to specifically book an assigned connector so there is no need to fight over a charger port. Meanwhile, they are still perfecting the Smart Parking system that will prevent any non-EVs from taking up a slot.

To make it even more eco-friendly, the station comes with its own solar cells, so it can draw power from a renewable energy source.

For now, the charging station is only open to GWM EVs, especially Ora Good Cat owners who will be able to use the charging facility free of charge during the launch period. GWM states that the station will be open to owners of other EV brands shortly.

But GWM is not stopping there, according to Michael Chong, Assistant President of GWM ASEAN and Thailand, the manufacturer is looking to build more than 100 G-Charge stations across Thailand in 2023.
