While the Haval H6 may have overtaken the Geely Boyue (Proton X70 to us) as the best-selling SUV in China, recent events could slow sales down a bit.
The reason is because a recent crash test of the Haval H6 by China’s C-NCAP raised an eyebrow or two amongst the automotive scene in China.

In the C-NCAP crash test, the Haval H6 aced the full-frontal crash test as well as the 40% offset frontal crash test, but where it got interesting is the side impact test, as the H6’s curtain airbags failed to deploy.
Furthermore, the doors remained locked and the emergency lights did not flash.
Haval claims that C-NCAP did not perform the crash test properly, which led to the H6 failing the side impact crash test. The company claimed that the H6's battery was not connected during the crash test.
In a statement released by Haval, they said that they welcome other crash test agencies (which probably means China Insurance Automotive Safety Index (C-IASI)) to crash test the Haval H6. Haval also said that they will livestream the crash test to proof the H6’s crashworthiness.
