The updated Mazda CX-5 2019 is now available in Malaysia along with the new range-topping 2.5-litre Turbo variant, which was previewed earlier in September.

The new ranging topping 228 PS/420 Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged AWD replaces the 2.2-litre turbodiesel AWD variant. The lower range 2WD turbodiesel variant, however, remains on sale.

As announced during the preview, Bermaz Motor is offering the Mazda CX-5 2019 in 5 variants, all locally-assembled in Kulim:

• 2.0L petrol GL 2WD 
• 2.0L petrol GLS 2WD
• 2.5L petrol GLS 2WD
• 2.2L turbodiesel GLS 2WD
• 2.5L Turbo petrol AWD (replaces 2.2L turbo diesel AWD)

All engine options are paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes with Mazda’s i-Stop idling start/stop system.

Prices have yet to be confirmed but is expected to range from RM 135k to RM 180k.

New to the MY19 Mazda CX-5 is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for the 7.0-inch MZD touchscreen infotainment system as well as G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC+) equipped on all variants.

On Mazda CX-5 2.5L GLS 2WD and above, you also get a new instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch TFT LCD central display that was first seen on the new Mazda 3. On 2.0L GLS models and up, you also get the addition of Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), Mazda’s term for autonomous emergency braking (AEB).

The main highlight of the MY19 CX-5 is the new 2.5L SkyActiv-G Turbo AWD variant which replaces the 2.2L SkyActiv-D AWD as the range-topping model.

The Mazda CX-5 2.5L Turbo is approximately RM1,000 pricier than the variant it replaces but gains a stronger 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder SkyActiv-G Petrol engine that pumps out a healthy 230 PS and 420 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful SUV in its class.

It is also the only variant in the Mazda CX-5 2019 line up to come with a windscreen-projected heads up display.

There are 8 colours to choose from – Deep Crystal Blue, Sonic Silver, Meteor Grey, Jet Black, Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey and Snowflake White Pearl – the last three Premium metallic colours are a RM 3,000 cost option.

Every purchase of the MY19 Mazda CX-5 will come with a 5-Years/100,000 km mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Maintenance package.

Mazda dealers are currently accepting bookings for the Mazda CX-5 2019, with the CX-5 2.5L Turbo estimated at RM 180k. Prices will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
