In case you didn't know, we're big fans of the recently-unveiled City Hatchback. It ticks all the right boxes that a car buyer today would shortlist. And today, we dive deeper into one of the City Hatchback's most sought-after features, the clever ULTRA seats.

ULTRA seats? What are these?

ULTRA seats are a defining feature in many modern Honda cars, the City Hatchback included. Honda engineers free up rear floor space by moving the fuel tank forward and position it under the front seats.

Because of this, the City Hatchback has amazingly spacious rear quarters, paired with a almost flat floor with a rear seat bench that can fold upwards or downwards. All this combine to give the City Hatchback amazing storage capacity and configuration flexibility, as shown in the multiple modes the ULTRA seats offers.

What's most amazing here is that, this is a B-segment car. In all likelihood, a car this compact has no right to squeeze out this much usable space, but then we're talking about Honda, who are masters of interior packaging. The City Hatchback's ULTRA seats do not just look good on the brochure, it's properly real-life usable.

Based on our experience with Hondas that have ULTRA seats, we're inclined to believe that the City Hatchback will possess the same cargo-swallowing capabilities.

WapCar's opinion: 

Would one buy the Honda City Hatchback for the ULTRA seats alone? Yes, because it's so clever. But that's a disservice to the rest of the car, which is just as accomplished. It possesses accomplished ride and handling, comes with Honda's enduring reputation, is packed with modern features, and is propelled by a sophisticated drivetrain (RS variant).

Expect the City Hatchback to be a common sight on our roads real soon, and with real good reason.
