Honda HR-V and Proton Persona took a toll on each other

Looks like the road accidents have already started. Barely 2 days after Recovery MCO started, drivers passing the Setia Alam toll yesterday were treated to a view of the horrifying aftermath between a Honda HR-V and a Proton Persona at the Setia Alam toll. 

Police enforcement stated that they received a report at 11am in the morning regarding the incident that happened at the toll entrance from the NKVE highway leading to Setia Alam.

Head of Traffic Police Selangor, Superintendent Azman Shariat reported that upon thorough investigation, it was found that the HR-V had made a last-second lane change from the right to enter the Smart TAG lane.

The last-second lane change placed the HR-V in the path of the oncoming Proton Persona that was intending to enter the same Smart TAG lane. As the Persona was unable to stop in time, the car rear-ended the HR-V hard causing the SUV to flip turtle into the toll booth.

Fortunately, both drivers were able to walk away alive, though the Honda HR-V driver, a woman aged 46, was rushed to the hospital with a broken shoulder. The Persona’s 58-year-old driver was unhurt.

Police are investigating the incident under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

We can’t help but marvel at the Proton Persona’s crumple zone though.
